Hi Unwinders!!
Do you all know what a yarn crawl is? Well...what you do is you make a day of visiting all the great yarn shops in your area. Grab some knitting friends, take advantage of some great deals, have some fun! And of course, stop here for lunch.... ; )
Come out this Saturday Nov. 1st for a yarn extravaganza!! Enjoy 15% off all your purchases at each of the six stores you visit on the day of the crawl. There will be prizes and treats for everyone at all the stores.
There will be additional sales at Unwind...you'll see them when you get here.
On to the usual news... I made (yes, you read that right...I made) a great alpaca wrap last week. Pretty and soft and warm and easy and fast.
The newest Interweave Holiday Edition is here...it's got some great patterns to get you ready for the season. We're working on these great Ribby Slipper Socks out of Blue Sky Bulky....everyone in my family is getting a pair. The pattern is at the store...

And my special request to you, the Unwinders....
There's a young woman in our community who was diagnosed with breast cancer a short time ago. She is 32 and has a young son. Her cancer has moved to her liver, her lungs, her bones. I'll leave it at that.
Her neighbours are hosting a fund raiser inspired by her on November 28th with music, a silent auction, lots of fun. You're all invited. The money raised will go to her family to help prepare for her palliative care, as well as to Princess Margaret Hospital.
We thought we would all knit squares of the lizard ridge blanket and either donate it to the silent auction or give it to her and her family as a gift and heirloom. Isn't that a lovely idea?! Thanks Patty!
If you're interested in knitting a square or two, let me know. Unwind is providing the yarn. All you need to do is come in, pick a colour and knit! If you're not sure about the pattern we are reserving next week's Stitch and Bitch to help out. The squares are super-quick and super-fun!
I hope to hear from TONS of you! If we can auction a blanket off AS WELL AS give one to her family, we would be super stars.
See you on Saturday!

Happy Gobble, Gobble (up yarn!)
More Flat Feet have arrived in the shop. This is that wacky sock yarn that comes in flats that you unravel to knit socks with. They were so popular at the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Fair, I got a bunch more for the next show-Creativ Festival. Which is next weekend. So, what I'm saying is, if you want one, see you soon.
Here's the cool display we made today...thanks for the idea, Debra-lee!! Look at those wild designs!!!

But the real exciting bit of news is I started the Lizard Ridge blanket today.

Here's me taking a nap under what I've done so far. I've never been cozier.

I had such a response to this blanket we've decided to do a class in November. This is a great way to learn SHORT ROWS!! The class will be one 2 hour session--$25. Please let me know if you're interested and I'll keep you posted on the date.
I hope everyone has a great holiday!
