It’s been a while—my apologies.
It’s been a busy few weeks here at the shop, but all that is over now! Shows are….done. And that’s all I have to say about that.
Introducing….our NEW Knitting Library Lending Program! (FULL props to Michelle for this brilliant idea and for getting me started. Way to go sista!) Here’s how it works:
- Come in, browse our selection of hard cover, beautiful knitting books. AND take them with you!
- Each book is available for one week at a time, you can take up to 3 books with you.
- Each time you borrow a book it costs $2. This nominal fee will be used to keep the library growing and growing!
- I will be getting in more books all the time—it’s my pet project to have a FANTASTIC knitting book library! Everything your heart desires….
- Books are still for sale, of course! Any book you simply can’t part with will be for sale in the store as well.
- Come in soon and check it out. And check it out. Get it?
NEW YARN!
On my latest trip to Americo I got the most wonderful 100% Andean wool. Oh my. It’s light, it’s lovely. It’s as light as air. Almost 200 meters in 100 grams! That’s double the yardage that you usually find in a 100 gram ball of chunky wool.
Here’s the portabella shrug knit out of it—only 3 balls! Sorry about the terrible shot—it looks great in real life.

And a brand new colour of the Copito Medio—the yarn “That Vest” is knit out of. Ravenous raspberry. You’ll find me napping head first in this basket later today.

Holiday Knits is here! More copies are on their way….be quick if you want yours in this round. It’s a great edition!

AND…..drum roll please. The new Addi Interchangeable Kit has arrived! Now, remember, it’s the same set of needles in a sexy new case. Check it. Easily half the size with twice the style.

Here’s what it looks like….OPEN! Wheee!

These go for the low low price of $199 or your first born.
Teehee. Whoever has a husband who desperately wants to get out of the doghouse, here’s the Christmas gift that says I love you…. A lot.
In all seriousness, they are a fantastic product that will save you money in the long run. Guaranteed.
In a couple of weeks I will be posting pics of some of the Sylvi Coat keeners who have completed theirs jackets. I must say—I am impressed! These coats are STUNNING! Sandra walked in the store wearing hers the other day and I almost sang Ava Maria spontaneously.
Don’t ask how mine is coming along cause I don’t want to talk about it.
SO! I will be checking back with you soon.
Toodles!

AND….there’s some neat stuff at the store these days. My little shop is busting with yarn. Just busting. I’m drunk with yarn. Hic.
Here’s a fun one for fall…pom poms are hot right now. Everything has pom poms on them, including yarn. Check out this wild and woolly adventure….

And a new yarn from Cabin Fever has arrived—it’s a beautiful, soft-spun, chunky wool. Great colours, great price, great felting, great wearing, great Canadian company.

And speaking of Cabin Fever…Deb Gemmell is coming in 3 weeks to teach a top down baby sweater! We’re so excited to welcome her.
This is going to be good. You’ll get practically the whole baby sweater done in 3 hours—there’s no sewing, remember.
PLUS you’ll get mucho tips on how to make any sized sweater to fit any sized person! With the $75 cost, you get the yarn needed to make the sweater as well as Deb’s New Book which explains how to make the basic garment and then how to jazz it up! Don’t miss it.
Please email me if you want to join. Spaces are limited.
Here’s the little sweater you’ll have at the end of the class….sweet!

Also, come by to check out the great trunk show from Spud and Chloe—our new favourite family friendly yarn. These hats are so much fun!

Oh yeah—did I ever show you the sock yarn from Sweet Georgia that arrived? I don’t believe so…. Feast. Eyes. On. This.

And here’s a quick personal plug….
Our good friend Moira—one of our resident foodies—has recently got herself a cookbook deal with a highly reputable publisher! We’re so proud of her! She is working her butt off to get it done by Christmas and we wish her flying fingers in the kitchen this fall! (Flying meaning ‘fast’, not flying meaning ‘flying around after contact with sharp knives’. Borkie bork.)
I have sent this to you before, but I think it deserves a repeat posting. This is her highly entertaining blog link. Read about all things food and family….it’s a good thing. (ooops, wrong domestic diva)

So, m’ladies. We’ll see you here on Saturday for the yarn crawl, I’m sure.
