The proceeds would go to the charity Avani to help children and women in India escape abusive and exploitative situations.

Avani is a charitable organization based in Kolhapur, India. It was created by Anuradha Bholsale to help women and children escape exploitative situations, become self-reliant, and break the cycle of poverty. They do this by providing an education to the children of migrant workers, in order to help them out of child labour, and helping to give women, children, and families safe places to live.

About Priya:

I am a high school student at Huron Heights Secondary School. As a charity initiative, I have been making wooden darning mushrooms to raise money for Avani, an organisation our family has been supporting for many years. I have had the wonderful opportunity to see the work they do firsthand on a family trip in 2018. The darning mushrooms are made entirely by hand, and all proceeds will go to charity.
