ABOUT OUR TOGETHER WE BLOOM COLOURWAY

Last year we introduced our fundraising colourway, Together We Bloom. It was a collaboration with Rose from Akara Yarns inspired by a Kimothy Joy print at Unwind.

This year we worked with Deborah from Yarn Indulgences on another interpretation of the print! Proceeds from the sale of this exclusive colourway will be donated to the Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association (NACCA) scholarship fund AND the Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA).

Through their scholarship program, the NACCA recognizes and celebrates students who are involved in building their community through volunteerism and leadership, and have demonstrated academic excellence. In this time of division, we are pleased to support this local, Black-led, volunteer-driven organisation.

For more than 50 years ONWA has provided services that strengthen communities and guarantee the preservation of Indigenous culture, identity, art, language and heritage. Ending violence against Indigenous women and their families and ensuring equal access to justice, education, health services, environmental stewardship and economic development, sit at the cornerstone of the organization. ONWA insists on social and cultural well–being for all Indigenous women and their families, so that all women, regardless of tribal heritage may live their best life.

We believe that Black and Indigenous Lives Matter and we hope that this is one small step towards an equitable future.
