A fantastic class for beginning knitters! There are many skills involved in making socks - from short rows to picking up stitches, increasing and decreasing, working in the round, and grafting.
In this class, we’ll walk you through the construction of a sock. You will work from the cuff down to the heel; turn a heel; create a gusset; knit the toe decreases; and Kitchener stitch.
Skills learned: knitting in the round, slipped stitches, picking up stitches, short rows, decreases, and grafting
Date: Tuesday April 21 and 28 from 7 - 9 PM
Instructor: Cathy
Prerequisite skills: Knit, purl, increases, decreases, and how to knit in the round.
Materials: (not included) Worsted weight yarn - we recommend Novita Seven Brothers, 3.75mm needles (either double pointed or 32” circular for magic loop), darning needle, stitch marker
HOMEWORK: Before the first class, please complete the cuff of one sock. Using the above needles and yarn, cast on 40 stitches. Join in the round. *K1, p1. Repeat from * to the end of the round. Continue working in 1 x 1 rib until your cuff is 2" long.
