Generally, we offer project-based classes and workshops, but this technique is one of our most-requested classes.
Are you ready to leave your double-pointed needles behind? Learn to knit in the round using a single circular needle and the magic loop technique. Great for small circumference knitting, such as socks and sleeves. This is the perfect precursor to our Learn to Knit Socks.
In this class you will master the Magic Loop by making a swatch tube. Which doesn't sound exciting, but once you understand the technique, you can use it to make socks, fingerless gloves, the tops of hats, and more!
Skills learned: the Magic Loop technique, including how to knit and purl on a smaller circumference circle.
Date and Time: Tuesday, April 14 from 7 - 9 PM
Instructor: Cathy
Prerequisite skills: Experience knitting in the round, cast on, bind off, knit and purl
Materials: 20 - 30 yards of worsted or chunky weight yarn and a 32" or longer circular needle with a flexible cord appropriate for the yarn weight. Worsted weight - 4.5 or 5 mm Chunky weight - 5.5 or 6 mm needles.
